The Pragmatist - Join Ellio Solomon CEO Of Vision as he speaks to Mr. Peter Schmid (Honorary Counselor for Switzerland in the Cayman Islands) who was born and raised in Switzerland by a single mother; he later moved into a home with his step father, who taught him the lessons of hard work, which later proved a tremendous benefit as he left home at the young of 12 and started out on his own.
Peter shares with us a tremendous piece of first-hand knowledge and history; of living and working in a country influenced by three nations (mainly France, Germany and Italy) having intermittent wars and the knowledge learned and gained from his experience; and the dream he had of becoming a pilot from the age of five, looking up into the sky and seeing his first airplane.
Peter (who calls himself a pragmatic individual) never wavered from that dream and twenty-six years later, having married a wonderful Caymanian Lady (and having his son Patrick) has successfully achieved his dreams and has been living here in the Cayman Islands, ever since.
Peter is a sample of the wonderful Caymanian persons we have in our country, who although not born in the Islands, loves and appreciates the country, its people and its way of life so much; he is always, always ready to share his knowledge and experience with us, be it on the radio talk-shows or wherever he can participate. He is a kind GENTLE-man always looking for pragmatic ways in which to aid and benefit the Cayman Islands in moving towards a greater Cayman for all.
