"My Bar" vs. Hurricane

Published on Apr 18, 2014 (404)

Footage from November 4th, 2001 during Hurricane Michelle; 283 miles off the West Coast of Grand Cayman. The storm eventually "knocked out" the thatched room bar at Sunset House, but what was erected within the next 7 months has led to one of the most legendary bars on the island.

The trailer was thrown together to create a Sunset House Facebook Site #TBT in April of 2014 and went viral just minutes after it was released. (http://www.facebook.com/sunsethouseca...)

One of the most amazing stories, the staff at Sunset House had the resort turned completely around (with the exception of a make shift bar) and help a sold out PADI Diving Society event Total Submersion SIX DAYS later.

As one can imagine, the rising water went straight through the bottom floor rooms of the resort, through the restaurant and up to the office area.

The entire two hour video was showed the last night of Total Submersion of what the staff bounced back from just a week earlier... Applause, tears and gratitude capped off one of the best Total Submersion's held.

The current My Bar (the one erected right after H. Michelle) still stands today and withstood, H.Ivan in Sept of 2004.

A must see while on island!
