Juvenile Spotted Drums Dancing around the Coral Reef
Published on Sep 2, 2014 (28)
Always a guest favorite the Juvenile Spotted Drum doesn't get any spots until it is almost grown. They tend to stay in one spot and can be found under ledges and in holes in the reef. It is frequently observed during the day under ledges or near the opening of small caves, at depths between 10- 100 feet, where it swims in repetitive patterns. A nocturnal feeder, it leaves the protection of its daily shelter at night to feed mainly on small crustaceans and Polychaete worms.
