Heart Talk with Steve McField (Radio's & Outside Communication) - Part 12 of 14

Uploaded July 21st, 2015

Imagine a time before televisions, car radios, internet, cell phone, skype, facebook, instant messenger, text messages, phone calls, emails and the like; having to get your news via a young man 'listening-in' on one of the only radios in the Cayman Islands, memorising that news and then getting on his horse and riding to the nearby districts to disimanate the news.

Picture not going to the Cinema to watch a movie, or sitting infront of your TVs, hand held devices & Computors at home, to watch the latest postings, but having to locate a neighbour and walk to their home, gather on their porch to huddle around a small radio, which intermitantently splurted the latest boxing match,  or listening to distant radio broadcastings from places such as 'Queto' Equador, 'RJR' in Jamaica, 'Cracker Jim' on the Texas boarder.

Ever wonder why country music became so popular in the Islands?  Mr. McField shares this and more about the Cayman Islands in the 50s.
